Today I got an email from someone that was looking for Speed Dating Software. I really don’t get a lot of requests for speed dating software. The speed dating business is not what it used to be IMHO. It requires a lot of work as well as a bit of money for advertising.

The way speed dating works is that there is usually a venue where men and women show up and get to interview the opposite sex for about 3 minutes then they move to the next candidate. Once it’s over, the members will go back to the website and enter their matches. If there is a mutual match then contact information is sent to both parties. But why can’t you just slip your phone number to them while sitting? Seems a lot easier and quicker than waiting for someone to enter the matches online. But who am I to judge…

I’ve been to a few of these speed dating events and they are all the same. They are fun and can take about an hour to get through. If your single and you got nothing better to do then go for it.

As for starting your own speed dating software site, that is a different story. Finding the right speed dating software can be difficult. Not many vendors sell speed dating software anymore. It’s all about dating software and social software these days. There are a couple of them still out there but I really don’t think they are that great. With speed dating, you will not only need speed dating software but you will also need a place to have it as well as money to advertise.

The guy I talked to today decided to create his own from scratch. It sure does pay to be a PHP developer…
