What is an affiliate program? It allows you to have people market your dating software for you. They register for an affiliate account on your dating software site and then they add a special code on their site and drive traffic to your site. This is an excellent way to get traffic that you would not normally get. Considering how difficult it is to get into the top 10 on Google. This is key. For their market, they produce 4 times the amount of traffic than their competitors do.

Why not do it when you first start your dating software site? Because you have no members. No affiliate will promote your site until you have tons of content and by content I mean members. Once you get about 500 members then you can turn on an affiliate program and if your dating software doesn’t have it, then at that time get it. Not before because it’s just a waste of money. That is 100% absolutely the truth. Surfers don’t want to see flashy design. They did 10 years ago when it was new and cool but leave the flash at home. Get yourself a good simple design that will convey your sites market and fill it with content and by content I mean members. Content is key. How many times do I have to tell people that. The more members you have that are current and active the better your dating software site will be.

Now, remember that when you are designing your dating software template. Keep it simple and keep the graphics down to a minimum. Don’t go overboard with huge graphics. Again, keep your dating site simple.

In closing, you don’t need all these really cool features. Standard dating software with search, email, chat and IM is about all you need. Believe me, if you have tons of members in your niche market dating site then you will make money if you are charging monthly memberships.

Most people when they come to a dating site they want to get their content. Yep, most men want to find the girl of their dreams and be on their way. They don’t want to sit and read blogs that the girl might have written. They want a photo and an email and that’s it.

Most dating software has blogs, forums and groups in it but it doesn’t have to be. Now most dating software providers will add this stuff strictly for SEO purposes only. Yahoo is really the only search engine that likes this stuff because it sees it as additional content. Sure Google likes it but it doesn’t place it as a high importance. Google loves link backs. If you have dating software installed and you want to keep it a dating site and attract more members then do not setup forums and groups and any other social aspect of your visitors might think it’s a social site and will not create a profile. Make your dating site a dating site and work on adding new members because members are key part of your profitable dating site. No members then no monthly payments from those members. Keep it simple. If you do add a blog, add a blog software and put it in a different directory and only link to it via the footer of your dating site. Somewhere where it’s not that visible. Visible only to Yahoo or Google.

Some examples of niche marketing dating sites would be a dating site for divorced people, or a dating site just for people that have cats, or a dating site for people that like to scuba dive. These are niche market dating sites and now a days these are the types of dating sites that people flock to in groves. So much that even Match.com is taking notice.

Generalized dating is becoming a thing of the past and like I tell all the people that I talk to about dating software, do not start a standard dating site. Start a niche market dating site and attack the hell out of it and you will make money. Yes, even if you bring in a few hundred dollars a month then that is profit that you don’t have. Yes, the old reliable dating site. I’m sure it’s kind of fun running your own social community but at what cost? Zero if you ask me. Besides all the spammers and scammers, it just doesn’t seem to fit in my opinion. I’ve been running dating sites and social networking sites for years and even with a few social sites in the top 5 results on Google, they still can’t make much money. Now, dating software on the other hand is has always been a stable source of income for me and my clients. Niche market dating is still a very profitable business. There will always be a need for love and romance. So, before you think about starting a social community, think about making money instead.

There isn’t a dating software package out there that will translate your text for you for the Instant Messenger. A few people have written to ask me about having one member type in Spanish and the other member receiving the text translated into English. So, there is nothing out there like that. There is the Userplane.com solution but it won’t do that translation for you.

In order for that to work you would need a database of translated words and be able to call them on the fly. Just doesn’t exist but with the world speaking more English these days it should not be a problem. Just keep in mind that most people do speak English and that your dating software should really be in English.
